Michal Nulíček focuses on legal advice in the areas of data protection, IT and IP law, as well as competition law, compliance and all areas of regulation. His clients include Czech and international companies from the automotive, IT, telecommunications, online services, financial services and energy sectors.

Michal has experience in representing clients before Czech regulators, other authorities and courts (including the Supreme, Supreme Administrative and Constitutional Courts), as well as European courts. The value of disputes in which Michal has represented clients amounts to tens of billions of CZK.

Michal is registered on the list of Arbitration Court attached to the Czech Chamber of Commerce and the Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic. He is a member and certified arbitrator of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIarb).

Michal Nulíček is a frequent speaker at local and international conferences, is the lead author of the first Czech commentary on the GDPR, commentary on the Czech Personal Data Processing Act (both published by Wolters Kluwer) and co-author of several other publications. Michal is a member of the IAPP (International Association for the Protection of Personal Data), the Society for the Protection of Personal Data and an internationally certified privacy professional (CIPP/E). Michal is also a member of the Appeals Committee of the Office for Personal Data Protection.

He provided legal advice in connection with the implementation of GDPR to the largest insurance group in the Czech Republic, the largest e-commerce group, the second largest software company, the largest international shipping company, one of the three largest providers of corporate benefits and many other entities. He advises numerous clients in connection with inspections by the Office for Personal Data Protection.

Advised ALSTOM in connection with alleged anti-competitive conduct and represented this client before Czech and European courts in connection with an alleged “GIS cartel”. For the client, he obtained the reversal of a record fine of hundreds of millions of CZK.

Advised a second major software company in connection with the realignment of its distribution relationships in the Czech Republic and abroad.

Assisted in negotiating, drafting a contract and resolving regulatory aspects in the largest Czech implementation of cloud services for a major Czech bank.

Advised several international pharmaceutical companies on the regulatory aspects of marketing their products and in connection with clinical trials and setting up related contractual relationships.

Successfully represented a major Polish petrochemical company in a dispute over the annulment of a CZK 17 billion arbitration award.

Advised a major international turbine manufacturer in connection with the regulation of the import and export of its products, and successfully represented this client before the Czech customs authorities in a dispute over a surcharge of hundreds of millions of USD.
